Funded by the European Union as part of No Lost Generation program, this is the first instance of supporting Secondary Education in the NW Syria for the partner and Olive Branch alike. The project outputs include improvement to school conditions, provision of materials (furniture, equipment, textbooks, stationery), pedagogic training for the teachers and awareness raising sessions for the parents; tutorial classes, and exam support for G12 out-of-school youth. Through this intervention, the school children will benefit from improved classroom activity and quality education programme while the out-of-school youth who have completed the requisite for secondary education will benefit from the tuition classes to improve their chances of passing the final exams, and thereby the chances of going to higher education. The impact of this project is to be seen in terms of their confidence and capacity to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The project targets 5 secondary schools in Harim and Idleb districts of Idleb province for refurbishment and light repair to the buildings. In addition, the schools will be provided with the necessary materials and equipment to improve the conditions and training to the teachers in order to improve the overall quality of their pedagogic skills. Tutoring classes will be provided in suitably refurbished sites, 4 of them, in targeted locations to support the out-of-school youth. They will be provided with the required educational materials and stationery items, and also be reimbursed with their exam fees which are paid to the education authorities of the areas.
The project is kicked off in September 2020 and will run till June of 2021.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
